Terms of Use

The terms that apply to the Bookworm website, browser extension, and related services.

Last updated:

1. Your agreement with Bookworm

These Terms govern your use of Bookworm for Notion ("Bookworm", "we", "our", or "us"), based in British Columbia, Canada. They apply to the service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. For questions about these Terms, contact support@bookworm-for-notion.com.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement, or have a parent or legal guardian agree on your behalf where permitted by law. You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you use Bookworm for an organization, you must have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. The service and your account

Bookworm helps you save books, sync Kindle highlights and reading progress with Notion, review reading activity, search highlights, and send Notion pages to Kindle. Available features and limits depend on your plan. We grant you a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the service for lawful purposes under these Terms.

Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize and for the permissions you grant to workspaces, pages, and browser integrations.

3. Plans, trials, and recurring payments

Free and Premium features, usage limits, prices, currencies, billing intervals, trial eligibility, and applicable taxes are described in the service and at checkout. Review the checkout details before subscribing. Stripe processes payments.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the billing interval and price disclosed when you subscribe, unless canceled before renewal. By confirming a paid subscription, you authorize the disclosed recurring charges using your payment method. Where a trial converts to a paid subscription, the trial end date and subsequent charge are disclosed during enrollment. A trial without a payment method ends by reverting to the Free plan rather than charging you.

Manage your subscription, payment method, invoices, and cancellation through Billing in your account. Cancel before the next renewal to prevent the next recurring charge. When you cancel a paid subscription, Premium remains available until the end of the current paid period, unless a different result is required by law or disclosed for a specific offer. Uninstalling the extension or disconnecting Notion does not cancel a subscription. Contact support@bookworm-for-notion.com if you cannot access billing or need help canceling.

Cancellation does not automatically refund an already paid period. Contact us about billing errors or refund requests. Any refund, withdrawal, cooling-off, or cancellation rights provided by applicable consumer law remain available. We will give advance notice of price or material subscription changes and obtain agreement where required; you can cancel before a new price takes effect. Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features or a downgrade.

4. Your content and our intellectual property

You retain your rights in the content you provide. You authorize us and our service providers to access, copy, process, transmit, and store that content only as needed to operate and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy, including syncing, page conversion, delivery, and highlight search indexing. This authorization ends when the content is deleted, except for retention permitted by that policy or required by law.

Only connect, copy, or send content you have the right to use. Owning an ebook does not necessarily permit redistribution. Respect copyright, workspace permissions, and the rights of authors and other people. Bookworm’s software, branding, and service design remain the property of their respective owners; these Terms do not transfer those rights.

5. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the service unlawfully, infringe others’ rights, or upload malicious code or unlawful content.
  • Do not access accounts or data without authorization, bypass access controls or plan limits, disrupt the service, or misuse its APIs.
  • Do not resell access or copy, modify, or reverse engineer our software except where we permit it or applicable law allows it.

6. Third-party services and sync limitations

Notion, Amazon, Kindle, Goodreads, and other third-party services are operated independently. Bookworm is not affiliated with or endorsed by Notion or Amazon. Their terms, privacy policies, availability, and restrictions apply to your use of their services.

Sync and delivery depend on permissions, active browser sessions, connectivity, and third-party systems. Scheduled extension work requires your browser and extension to be running and the relevant accounts to remain signed in. Third-party changes may interrupt features. Search results, conversions, and reading insights may contain errors or omit information. Keep independent copies of important content and review data before relying on it.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we process information, including integration data, payments, diagnostics, analytics, and AI-powered highlight search. Agreement to these Terms does not replace consent where privacy law requires a separate choice.

8. Suspension, closure, and service changes

You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from account settings. Account deletion permanently removes access to your Bookworm account. Cancel an active subscription through Billing before deleting your account, or contact us for assistance. Copies already in Notion or Kindle are managed through those services.

We may restrict or suspend access to address a material violation, nonpayment, a security risk, or a legal requirement. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve it. Immediate action may be necessary to prevent harm or comply with law. Contact us if you believe a restriction was a mistake.

We may change or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces a paid service during a prepaid period, we will provide notice and any remedy required by applicable law, which may include a proportionate refund for an unused period. We will provide notice of a service closure where reasonably possible so you can retain your content.

9. Warranties and liability

We aim to provide a reliable service, but cannot promise uninterrupted, error-free operation or compatibility with every third-party change. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost profits, business opportunities, or data, arising from use of or inability to use the service. This exclusion applies only where enforceable under the law applicable to your claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer guarantees or remedies, or excludes liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

10. Changes to these Terms

We will post updated Terms here with a revised date. For material changes, we will provide advance notice through the service or by email where practicable and as required by law. Changes apply prospectively. Where your affirmative agreement is required, we will request it. If you do not agree to revised Terms, you can stop using the service and cancel your subscription; any mandatory refund rights still apply.

11. Disputes and general terms

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your place of residence. This choice of law does not deprive you of rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Contact support@bookworm-for-notion.com so we can try to resolve a concern. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive your ability to bring claims in courts available to you under applicable law. Any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights in your place of residence remain unaffected.

These Terms, together with any specific plan terms you accept, form our agreement concerning the service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive it. Terms that by their nature need to survive account closure, including payment obligations already incurred and applicable liability provisions, survive closure.
