Highlights Not Syncing

If your Kindle highlights are not appearing in Notion, work through the steps below.

Sign in to Amazon on the correct browser

Make sure you are signed into your Amazon account in the same browser where the Bookworm extension is installed, using the same account linked to your Kindle device.

Only Kindle Store books are supported

The extension only works with books purchased from the Kindle Store. Sideloaded books — added via USB or email — are not currently supported and will not sync.

Stay signed in to Bookworm

If you are frequently signed out, your browser may be clearing cookies on close.

  • Chrome: Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies and add bookworm-for-notion.com to the allowed sites list.
  • Firefox: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data and ensure bookworm-for-notion.com is not set to clear on close.

When you log back in, make sure you continue to share the same Notion databases you used when setting up the integration — otherwise Bookworm will not have access to write your highlights.

Check that your highlights exist on Amazon

Visit read.amazon.com/notebook to confirm your highlights are visible there. If they are missing, they may not have synced from your Kindle yet.

To trigger a sync from your Kindle:

  • Ensure your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Go to Settings → Account → Whispersync for Books and confirm it is on.
  • Open the book and leave it open for a minute to trigger a sync.

Force a sync from the extension

Bookworm syncs your highlights automatically once a day. To sync immediately:

  1. Click the Bookworm icon Bookworm icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup. If you don't see it, click the extension icon and pin Bookworm for easier access.
  2. Click Sync Highlights.
  3. Wait for the sync to complete.
